Where the magic begins
A student's first exposure to classical art often happens through a SPIC MACAY concert in their school. These are not lectures or demonstrations — they are full-scale performances by India's finest artists, held right in the school auditorium, free of charge. The goal: plant a seed of curiosity that lasts a lifetime.

The Journey
How SPIC MACAY comes to your school
A step-by-step process that brings India's finest artists to school auditoriums — entirely free and volunteer-driven.
Connect with Your Chapter
A teacher or student reaches out to the nearest SPIC MACAY chapter. Weekly meetings are held across India — find one near you.
Form a Heritage Club
A small group of students and one faculty advisor register as a Heritage Club. This is your school's bridge to the movement.
Plan a Program
The chapter coordinates with the national network to match an artist with your school. Dates, logistics, and venue are arranged.
Host the Concert
A master artist performs live in your school auditorium. Students sit on the floor, close to the artist, experiencing classical music firsthand.
Run Workshops
Follow-up craft, yoga, or music workshops deepen the experience. Students try pottery, calligraphy, or learn basic taals.
Sustain the Movement
The Heritage Club continues — organising film screenings, heritage walks, and inviting more artists. The seed grows into a tree.
Heritage Club
Starting a Heritage Club
Any school can start a Heritage Club — a student-led group that liaises with the local SPIC MACAY chapter to organise concerts, workshops and film screenings. The Heritage Club becomes a bridge between the school and the wider movement, giving students ownership of their cultural education.
Program Types
Schools can host a range of programmes: full-length classical concerts (Hindustani, Carnatic, instrumental), dance recitals (Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Manipuri), craft workshops (pottery, weaving, block printing), yoga sessions, and heritage film screenings. Each programme is designed to be age-appropriate and participatory.
